About Us

After working in the IT industry for over 30 years and my last job for 25 years, I decided it was time for a change.

I remembered spending time with my grandfather as a child while he worked in his woodshop and the fun times we had and the cool things he made. They are wonderful memories that I will never forget.

Later in life, I was also inspired by my dad's wonderful woodworking products he created. He created some of the most amazing pieces of Southwest wooden art, Japanese styled wooden bridges, and wooden countryside bucket wells of which I still have in my front yard today.

I wanted to follow in their footsteps and get into woodworking as well, but with my own style of functional art. During the pandemic, we all spent a lot more time at home and I wanted to make wood products that went along with that. My wife and I love to cook and we've spent hundreds of dollars on less than functional cutting boards. I finally decided that if I wanted a functional cutting board that also looked amazing, that I'd have to stop buying them at box stores and start learning how to make my own. This led to other creations like cheese slicers, key holder signs, etc.

After creating some pretty cool cutting boards for family members, I decided that custom engraving them would be the next step and started learning how to use a laser engraver and became hooked on it. This lead to full face engravings for wedding and anniversary cutting boards as well as creating monogram rock coasters and soon metal and glass tumblers and coffee mugs.

I'm enjoying working in my garage turned woodshop, and often get to work with my Son, my Dad, and my Uncle. This is the best part about woodworking for me, spending time with my family and creating life long memories. On the business side of things I get to work with my wife of 25 years as well on everything from taking product pictures, to purchasing packaging materials. This is what woodworking means to me and I'm so happy to be able to share this with my family and with everyone who purchases products from us. Navara Family Woodcraft.
